Staying competitive and where to compete

Staying competitive and where to compete

Are you a junior golfer who thinks that you have what it takes to compete with the best in your area, the country, or the world?

A lot of parents are uninformed about what types of tournaments their kids should be playing in.

Usually in your area, there should be a junior type of tour, and these are a great place to get started in feeling what it is like to play a competitive round where your score actually matters. This helps you learn how to keep score properly, follow the rules, and to try and compete at your highest level.

If you are playing in your area and find that it isn’t competitive enough, do some research on bigger junior tours in your area that you can compete in.

There are a number of high-level junior tours in the country. The American Junior Golf Association is one of the most well known tours. A lot of PGA and LPGA players used to play in these events all over the country before they made it to the big stage.

If your parents are willing to travel, this tour is great. The AJGA also does a great job at helping excelling junior golfers try and get scholarships to NCAA schools.
